Circa Cycle

In the immortal realms, the definition of a ‘realm’ can be a tricky one to nail down. Most realms are places at a particular point in time, like Victorian Europe or Ancient Rome. Even in the Maelstrom, realms tend to be places like Mount Olympus? and the Fey Realm Of Dreams?. Occasionally, though, a being tears through the Veil; a being with the potential to change existence forever. Such beings carry their own realms around with them, wherever they go. The dark cycle of change that followed one such being is the cycle of stories about Circa.

Overview

     Circa was a feral spirit, a raw incarnation born from the merger of a Change spirit and a Dark spirit. He bowed to neither the Great Spirit of Change, nor the Great Spirit of the Dark. Instead, he wandered the Maelstrom, feeding on lesser spirits, ever hungry to grow, to change… into the form that would allow him to fulfill his destiny.

     Not even Circa knew what that destiny was, where it would lead him, what it would mean. But he felt the moment that his power had reached its threshold and his obsidian-black claws could finally rend the Veil, giving him access to the mortal realms. There, he would feast, gorging himself across all times and places, ever-growing, ever-changing until the dark thoughts would take over completely, and he would finally be ready. Ready to fulfill his destiny, whatever that might be.

     The moment he shredded the Veil, the gods were alerted. Loose in the mortal time stream, a spirit as powerful as Circa could do massive harm. Troubled, a number of gods summoned loyal Heroes to take up the hunt, track down Circa wherever he might be, and destroy him before he could carry out whatever foul plan he had in mind.
