New World

Out of the three main inhabited regions of the Untamed Empires realm, the New World recovered from the Pulse War fastest. This tiny sliver of the former Europe was mostly spared the worst horrors of the War, which were reserved for the Old World instead.

The refugees who sheltered in this region when the Barriers went up found themselves in a strong position. Water was largely clean, the soil still capable of growing crops, and random mutations happened infrequently. As a result, civilization imposed itself quickly. The strongest became dictators who set up personal kingdoms. Kingdoms fought until there ware few left, ultimately only four which restyled themselves as the Celestium Empires.

Over time, as populations grew, this small region of land began to feel crowded until the empires started to fight over land (and petty politics too, of course – that bit of ‘civilization’ was alive and well too). This corresponded to the time when naval technology advanced rapidly to make ocean-worthy ships. Brave explorers set out in a race to find new territory, and in due course discovered the Old World, bringing back treasures of the Ancients and a new set of wars over who owned this bounty.
